Remodeling a 1980's Condo In Naples, Florida

I'm thrilled to share the final result of my full remodel in the Horizon House in Naples, Florida. Upon the initial consultation, I instantly recognized the incredible opportunity to turn this "decorated in the 80's" condo into a 2022 gem.

The Horizon House project was definitely a total redo. We took the outdated double unit down to the studs and started fresh for a completely updated look. Many clients are curious about a designer's fees in a project this large, and I've found it's much more streamlined to base my fee off the square footage of the project. This includes all design services and selections from the beginning of the project up until the last photo is hung and pillow is fluffed.

This project is coming down to the final details! Here are a few behind the scenes from a recent site visit.

The original living room and furniture, now reupholstered.

The original bedroom, now updated and upgraded.

So, what's the process behind a project this large? I have direct relationships with many manufacturers for most fixtures, furnishings and other items, as well as local distributors and showrooms. The contractor I work closely with has all of the relationships with the electrician, the plumber, the painter, etc. and plays an essential role in ensuring we are working with the best of the best.

I'll work one-on-one with clients to begin making the "major" decisions - this includes cabinetry, flooring, tile and plumbing. We'll select everything locally so the client can see exactly what will be installed and be able to experience their choices in-person. From here, I'll come up with a floor plan for furnishings, fabrics, wall treatments, lighting, etc. and present to the client so they can provide feedback on what selections to move forward with and which to edit. I'll place orders with my vendors and verify delivery dates and a clarified schedule on what to expect timeline-wise.

As the home is under construction, clients can enjoy peace of mind knowing their furniture is being stored safe and sound in my storage unit until all the dust has settled (literally) and can be safely delivered and installed. I oversee the installation of the woodwork, ceiling and wall treatments and everything that will help make the place beautiful and ready for turn key arrival. When a client re-enters their new home for the first time, every detail will be complete and taken care of by me personally.

I truly value working closely to make major decisions with my clients and allowing them to enjoy the process while I handle the details behind the scenes. It makes the process seamless, organized and most importantly, fun! Clients can travel and carry on with their lives feeling confident their home is in good hands.

At the end, I'll bring in a professional photographer to capture the new space and clients can enjoy these photos of their home for years to come!

A few details on the project...

My client enjoys hosting a variety of groups, so we needed a table that could accommodate multiple sizes. One of my favorite finds in this project, her dining table from Sarreid has a customizable feature where built-in leaves unfold or store away hidden to allow the table to expand or be a minimal size in the dining area. Additional seating is at the bar where guests can perch on gorgeous Serena and Lily stools.

All lighting came from Circa Lighting and provided a truly elevated and luxurious accent on walls and ceilings. My client now enjoys a defined space to work from home with a customized office and desk from World's Away. One of my favorite pieces is a gorgeous rattan accent credenza from Made Goods in the living area.

My signature love of pattern and color came through on the wallpaper from Schumacher and Thibaut - we even upholstered her existing pieces with fabrics from Kravet and Pindler to provide new life to signature furniture she's loved for a long time. Phillip Jeffries grasscloth adorns the ceiling for an interesting pop of pattern in an unexpected way. A Currey & Company round mirror adds depth and interest to the entryway.
